Malinska is situated in the northwestern part of the island of Krk, in a spacious bay between Cape Čuf and Cape Pelova. Together with around twenty surrounding villages, it forms the historic area known as Dubašnica (dub meaning oak tree). The greatest natural treasures of this region are the exceptional beauty and strength of the sea and the oak forests of Dubašnica.

Malinska is one of the island’s leading tourist destinations, renowned for its numerous beaches, well-developed hospitality sector, and family-friendly tourism. Tourism, now the region’s main economic activity, began developing in Malinska at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries thanks to the growth of railway and steamship transport. Once a port for timber export, Malinska evolved into a renowned climatic health resort due to its mild climate and approximately 260 sunny days per year.
