On the southeastern coast of the island of Krk, in the municipality of Baska, there is the Kuntrep ornithological reserve, declared in 1969, which makes it the oldest ornithological reserve in the world! It stretches along the coast, from Cape Glavine to the bay of Mala Luka with a coastal belt one kilometer wide and 10 kilometers long.

Kuntrep Reserve is a habitat for griffon vultures, but it is not the only special feature of the reserve. Other species of birds that are endangered in Europe also nest in Kuntrep, such as the eagle snake, the gray falcon, the blue-haired eagle, the kestrel, the sea crow, the barn owl and others.

In this seemingly desolate area on the cliffs you can find endemic flora and vegetation.
Endemic species include Dalmatian knapweed, Istrian bellflowers, drypis, thistles and other species. The vegetation consists of rocky pasture and endemic rock communities.
